Deborah Hazler About Performances

Anthropology of Man

In Anthropology of Man, Deborah Hazler puts herself into the lives of fictional men and authentically imitates them. Through her empathy for masculine corporealities and emotions, she approaches the question of at which point a man is recognizable as such. Among others, she mutates into male types such as the nerdy hipster who passionately indulges in the literary-alternative lifestyle of the beat poets. Or into the 17-year-old Richard Rogers who undergoes intense muscle-building training with the intention to impress girls and documents his life on his blog.
